Saadiya Khan
Saadiya Khan is the proud wife of UK politician and current Mayor of London, Sadiq Aman Khan or simply Sadiq Khan.
Saadiya’s husband has been in the top job since being elected in 2016. 49-year-old Sadiq is a politician and attorney who became the first Muslim mayor of London. His parents arrived from Pakistan shortly before his birth.
He studied law at the University of North London and qualified in 1994 as a solicitor. He specialized in human rights. Also in 1994, he was elected as a local Labour Party councillor in the London borough of Tooting. He was elected to the House of Commons in the 2005 general election.
In 2010 he was named justice secretary of the party. Khan sought and won his party’s nomination as mayor of London in the capital’s 2016 election.
He’s been happily married to longtime wife, Saadiya for many years. Meet her below.
#1 She is a mother of two
Sadiq and his lovely wife Saadiya Khan have been married since 1994 and together are the proud parents of two children, daughters 20-year-old Anisah and 18-year-old Ammarah Khan.
#2 Saadiya is also of Pakistani roots
Saadiya Khan was born as Saadiya Ahmed in Pakistan. The couple bonded over their Muslim roots and the fact that her father like her husband’s father –were both bus drivers.
#3 She is a fellow solicitor
Like her husband, Saadiya Khan, holds a law degree from the University of North London. Saadiya is often described as a sucessful lawyer. She set up her own consultancy firm over six years ago and is the sole director. Ms Ahmad works as a “consultant and associate” at South London-based law firm Dexter Henry. She specialises in defending accused criminals.
#4 The two enjoyed McDonald’s
Also as a funny fact, according to The Mirror, Khan wooed Saadiya over a Filet-O-Fish in McDonald’s. They were in their early 20s when they hung out under the golden arches in Croydon, south London.
#5 She is paid via low-tax ‘personal services firm’
47-year-old Saadiya hit headlines earlier this year after it was reported she has raked in thousands through her own “personal service company” -as a result her husband was branded a hypocrite after he criticized workers who get paid through their own company.
She practices law under her maiden name Saadiya Ahmad, funnels some earnings through her own “consultancy” firm.
