Peggy McDonnell Vance has been the wife of New York District Attorney for 29 years. They were married on May 5, 1984. He met Peggy in Peapack, N.J., as a young boy, where he spent holidays with his family. After finishing law school, he reconnected with the McDonnell family and fell in love. Peggy graduated from Hamilton College and worked before her marriage as an administrative assistant with the Taylor Galleries in Dublin. Her father was a vice-president of the New York investment banking house of Allen & Co.
For a time they lived in New York City where Cyrus was an assistant D.A., but in 1989 they moved to Seattle, Wa. Where Vance co-founded McNaul, Ebel, Nawrot-Helgren & Vance, PLLC, a litigation firm. He also taught trial advocacy at Seattle University School of Law.
In 2004, Cyrus and Peggy moved back to New York with their two children who attended high school there. She has been a staunch supporter of her husband during all his political campaigning. Cyrus became District Attorney of New York County on January 1, 2010. He is still serving as such.
Whether you agree with their politics or not, Peggy and Cyrus seem to have a strong and happy marriage and that says a lot about them.
