Beth Harris
Beth Harris is the longtime wife of politician, Mark Harris –the Republican candidate in North Carolina’s Ninth Congressional District race.
Is not the first time Beth’s husband competes for the House of Representatives, in 2016 he lost to the incumbent, Robert Pittenger –he ran again in 2018 however the outcome of the election is yet to be certified by state officials following alleged fraud investigations.
Born April 24, 1966; the North Carolina native attended Appalachian State University where he graduated with a B. S. in political science in 1987.
He also earned two Master’s, Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degree in Christian Leadership from Southeastern.
Mark served two churches prior to moving to Charlotte. Center Grove Baptist in Clemmons, NC; and First Baptist Church Charlotte. While serving as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Charlotte, Mark was elected President of the North Carolina Baptist Convention from 2011-2013. In addition he’s served as a trustee of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and as Chairman of the Board from 2005-2007. Mark has also served on the Board of Directors for the Biblical Recorder from 2006-2010.
He and wife Beth have been married for decades, she is the former Elizabeth Bates.
Mark and Beth Harris became husband and wife in 1987. Together they are the proud parents of three adult children and grandparents to at least six grandchildren. Their children are Laura, John and Mathew.
Laura is a teacher in Union County. John studied law at UNC Law. And their son Matthew attended Wake Forest University and graduated from the School of Business.
Beth met her future husband while being a student at Appalachian State University –from where she obtained her degree in Middle School Education.
The wife and mother was a school teacher for at least 15-years before turning her focus solemnly to the ministry. Beth taught school in the Winston-Salem / Forsyth County School system and at Calvary Baptist and Forsyth Country Day schools during Mark’s tenure at Center Grove in Clemmons.
