Lynne Ann Vincent Cheney is a very accomplished lady. She is a novelist, a scholar and even a former talk show host. She was also Second Lady of the Nation for eight years.
She was born in Casper Wyoming on August 14, 1941. She was raised a Presbyterian and became a Methodist when she married Dick Cheney. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with highest honors from Colorado College. From there she went to the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she got her masters and from the her PhD in British Literature.
Lynne has been married to Dick Cheney since 1964. They have two daughters Elizabeth born on July 28, 1966. Liz is married to Philip Perry and has five children. She is an international lawyer. Mary Cheney was born on March 14, 1969. She is openly gay and lives with her partner Heather Roan Poe. Lynne has stated her opposition to an amendment banning gay marriage and like her husband supports gay marriage.
Now it seems she might have to take sides as her two daughters are in the middle of a very public dispute. Liz does not approve of gay marriages although she loves and supports her sister. People who have spoken to Liz Cheney say she is irritated that her sister is making their dispute public and believes it is hypocritical for Mary Cheney to take such a hard line now, given that she worked for the re-election of President Bush, an opponent of same-sex marriage.
So, what’s a mother to do? Siblings will always find something to argue about, although this really is a sensitive subject.
