Rebecca Johnson
Rebecca Johnson is the wife of late Kentucky law maker, Dan Johnson who is said to have taken his own life.
Prior to his suicide, Rebecca’s husband faced serious allegations after it was said that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl in the basement of his home. Johnson who refused to resign from state legislature shot himself on a bridge in Mount Washington, Kentucky, reports say.
Dan faced calls to resign from both Republican and Democratic congressional leaders in the wake of child sexual assault allegations. Earlier this week, the Kentucky Centre for Investigative Reporting published an account from his daughter’s friend saying Mr Johnson sexually assaulted her in the basement of his home in 2013.
The woman, who was a member of his church, claims he put his hands up her bra and down her trousers despite begging him to stop. Rebecca’s husband denied the accusations.
Born Danny Ray Johnson on October 18, 1960; the Bastrop, Louisiana native was elected to the state legislature in 2016. Prior to his win, he was urged to drop out of the race after racist Facebook posts he made came to light. He famously compared Barack and Michelle Obama to monkeys.
Dan Johnson was also a Bishop at Heart of Fire church in Louisville –where he was known as “Pope Dan R. Johnson.” Prior to his career in politics, he traveled as a national and international speaker. He worked with Pastors and local churches together in large inner cities. He founded Heart of Fire Ministries in 1977.
During his time as a lawmaker, he sponsored a number of bills having to do with religious liberty and teaching the Bible in public schools.
Just hours before he took his own life he professed on a Facebook post his love to his wife, writing
“I love God and I love my wife, who is the best wife in the world, My love forever”
According to social media, Rebecca Johnson is originally from Jeffersontown, Kentucky.
She remained loyal to her husband of several after he was accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl. She spoke to reporters moments after her husband denied the claims telling reporters the woman was sleeping in the same bed as the couple’s daughter and called the accusations “crazy.”
Like her husband, Rebecca Johnson was a pastor at Heart of Fire Church and according to its website, worked “with her husband in every facet of the Church & Evangelistic Ministry.”
The couple was married for decades and together welcomed four children, Boaz, Danielle, Judah, and Sarah.
If for any reason the young accuser lied she has a life time of misery to live with. And if she did not lie, why did the man’s daughter not come forward with her? It is a terrible, terrible accusation for which t his man has paid with his life. This is an awful situation, no matter how you look at it. God Bless and keep everyone involved and bring some kind of peace to them all.
