Sandy Cornyn
Sandy Cornyn is the lovely wife of senior Senator from Texas, John Cornyn –who recently quoted Mussolini on a tweet.
Sandy’s congressman husband is currently serving his third term after being reelected in 2008 and 2014.
The Texas native who sits on the Senate Finance, Intelligence, and Judiciary Committees –previously served as district judge, a member of the Texas Supreme Court and Texas Attorney General.
Cornyn –who holds a degree in journalism from Trinity University in San Antonio –later graduated from St. Mary’s Law School and joined a San Antonio law firm.
He has been happily married to Sandy Cornyn for the last 40-years.
Mrs. Cornyn was born Sandy Hansen in 1949. The couple met in 1977 on a blind date. Sandy is three-years older than her hubby, at the time she was 28 and John Cornyn was 25.
They wedded in 1979 since then welcoming two daughters, Danley and Haley. Following their nuptials, Sandy Cornyn became a dedicated housewife who was in charge of the caring of the couple’s children.
It’s safe to say, she’s been supportive of her husband’s career and his biggest supporter without a doubt. She took care of the couple’s two daughters when he decided to continue his studies earning his Master of Laws degree from the University of Virginia in 1995 –while serving as a Justice on the Texas Supreme Court.
She was also right next to him when in 1998, her husband became the first Republican elected Attorney General of Texas since Reconstruction and was sworn in by Governor George W. Bush. And then in 2002 when her husband was first elected to the U.S. Senate.
As a senator’s wife she’s done charity and is affiliated to a number of organizations. Sandy became the Treasurer of the Spouses of the Senate Club –a group that meets weekly while the Senate is in session.
In addition, Sandy Cornyn is a member of the Texas Federation of Republican Women and the Austin Republican Women’s Club. She keeps active with the International Club –which promotes goodwill and international understanding. She is also a member of Congressional Families Action for Cancer Awareness.
