Imran Khan
Imran Khan, the Pakistani Prime Minister announced he will release captured India Air Force Pilot Abhinandan –as an act of god will in an attempt to de-escalate tensions between the two countries.
PM Khan is a former cricket er turned politician who assumed office last year. Born Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi on 5 October 1952 in Lahore, Pakistan – He was schooled at Lahore’s elite all-boys Aitchison College before graduating from Oxford University in 1975 with a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics and economics.
He made his international debut for Pakistan’s national cricket team at age 18. Following the country’s only victory only at the 1992 World Cup –Khan retired from the sport and focused on philanthropy and social work.
He entered the political realm in 1996, founding and becoming the leader of his centrist party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI). After a provincial victory at the 2013 general elections, PTI governed the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province for five years.
Khan pushed the Supreme Court case instigated by the Panama Papers leak scandal against former PM Nawaz Sharif, which ultimately led to his disqualification and imprisonment.
Wives
Bushra Maneka is his third and current wife. He was previously married to Jemina Goldsmith and Reham Khan. Maneka and Khan were married in 2018.
Bushra Maneka was born Bushra Wattoo on August 16, 1968 in Pakpattan, Punjab, Pakistan. Her family belongs to the Wattoo clan –a conservative, politically influential family from central Punjab.
Bushra is well known in her native country as a spiritual mentor who practices Sufi Islam and she is described as a Sufi scholar.
She and Khan met around 2015 after she had been serving as his spiritual adviser. She is the mother of five children from her first marriage to Khawar Maneka –whom he divorced in 2017 after 30-years of marriage.
First wife Jemima Goldsmith is the daughter of the late British billionaire James Goldsmith. She was born January 30-1974 in London. Her mother, Lady Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart is from an aristocratic Anglo-Irish family.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and holds a MA in Middle Eastern Studies. Jemima is a film and documentary producer and former journalist. She founded Instinct Productions in 2016. She also worked as an associate editor of The New Statesman, and European editor-at-large for Vanity Fair.
She and Khan were married for nine years before they parted ways in 2004. The couple share two children together.
Second wife, Reham Khan is a British-Pakistani journalist. The two were married in 2014 and it was a short-lived marriage which ended in 2015.
Reham was born April 3, 1973 in Ajdabiya, Libya. She is the mother of three children form her first marriage to Ejaz Rehman whom she divorced in 2005, after 12-years together.
Children
Khan is the biological father of three children. First child, daughter Tyrian Jade was born June 15, 1992 –as a result from his relationship with girlfriend, Sita White –an heiress daughter of British industrialist Gordon White, Baron White of Hull.
He and first wife, Jemima –wlecomed two sons during their marriage; Sulaiman Isa and Kasim.
He is also the stepfather to the five kids of his current wife, Bushra.
