Born to father Manuel Fernández Fernández and mother Elvira Balboa Docampo, she is 48-year-old Elvira Fernandez Balboa the wife of Spain’s Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
Let’s meet Elvira or “Viri” for those closest to her, Viri was born April 27, 1965 in Pontevedra, Spain.
On 28 December 1996 in La Toja island (Pontevedra) Mariano married Elvira Fernández Balboa. The couple met in 1992, they were introduced by Rajoy’s borther Luis and four years later they walked down the isle. At the time she worked for a construction company and Mariano was a one of the great promises in politics.
She became Spain’s first lady in late 2011 after Mariano Rajoy leader of the people’s party since 2004 won the general elections.
The couple have two children; Viri gave birth to two sons, first Mariano Rajoy Fernández born in 1999 and Juan Rajoy Fernández born in 2005.
She lived most of her younger years in Pontevedra and received most of her education in public schools, first attending the religious institute of “las Doroteas” and later the Prince Felipe Valle institute. In 1983 she enrolled at University of Santiago de Compostela and graduated with an economics degree in 1988.
In Campaño, Pontevedra where her parents owned a small winery the family traveled to Casa do Crego to spend the summer vacations there.
Although she does not lead a public life despite being her husbands wife she is said to be her biggest support and right hand. Her shy and quiet demeanor makes her seem very lady like and a great loving companion for Rajoy.
She has combined both her work and family life being very discrete, responsible and a hard worker. She has worked in Atena 3 Television in the budget control department and as a technical adviser at Admira’s direction department.
Elvira enjoys of a good books and films, it’s been said she has a great influence and Rajoy and he has publicly admitted his wife is the only person who tells him the truth about things.
