Former FOX-4 anchor Amy Wegmann is the lovely wife of disgraced politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Florida’s 19th congressional district, since 2013, Trey Radel.
Recent media reports say Henry “Trey” Radel was arrested on Oct. 29 for possession of cocaine in D.C., according to D.C. superior court documents. The 37-year-old freshman congressman from Florida was charged with misdemeanor possession on Tuesday and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
A clearly remorseful Rep. posted on his Facebook page, the following statement
I’m profoundly sorry to let down my family, particularly my wife and son, and the people of Southwest Florida. I struggle with the disease of alcoholism, and this led to an extremely irresponsible choice. As the father of a young son and a husband to a loving wife, I need to get help so I can be a better man for both of them.
In facing this charge, I realize the disappointment my family, friends and constituents must feel. Believe me, I am disappointed in myself, and I stand ready to face the consequences of my actions.
However, this unfortunate event does have a positive side. It offers me an opportunity to seek treatment and counseling. I know I have a problem and will do whatever is necessary to overcome it, hopefully setting an example for others struggling with this disease.
Please keep my family in your prayers.
He asks for forgiveness from wife; a wife who quit her job to be a full time mommy and support her husband after he ran for Congress. Wegmann said in a news release on September of last year:
“This was a very difficult decision for me, but I want to help my husband become our next U.S. Congressman,” “I will miss the day-to-day news activity and the people at Fox 4.”
Wegmann, who went to high school in Cape Coral, started at Fox 4 in 2005 as a reporter and eventually became the co-anchor with Patrick Nolan for the nightly newscasts. She is known as one of Southwest Florida’s most popular news anchors. She stayed out of the news radar after giving birth to son, Jude, born on December 5, 2011.
She is also a bit of an actress, in 2012 she played a reporter character, named Michelle Wheaton in “Army Wives” on the Lifetime Network.
On twitter she describes her new role as
Media consultant, Freelance Journalist, Mom Extraordinaire…
During a recent interview Amy, she calls it the best of both worlds living in Southwest Florida and Washington D.C. Although she admitted life in Washington as a Congressman’s wife is not easy, her biggest shock his how normal and cool everyone is, revealing her family of three is just that, normal! She loves to to cook, hang out and watch movies, you know, normal things.
Do you think what her husband did is pretty normal? Would she stand by him?
