Gabriel Ocasio-Cortez
Gabriel Ocasio-Cortez is the younger brother of young politician, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez –whom you probably know best as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district.
Gabriel’s sister was sworn in earlier this year and to the ceremony the 29-year-old democrat was accompanied by her mother and brother, needless to say important members of her family.
But who exactly is Alexandria’s brother? One thing is for sure, the siblings are tight.
#1 They are the children of Puerto Rican Parents
Both Gabriel and Alexandria were born from Puerto Rican parents, Blanca Ocasio-Cortez nee, Blanca Iris Cortez Rivera –and the late Sergio Ocasio, a Puerto Rican architect who died on September 8, 2008 of lung cancer.
#2 He is not into politics
26-year-old Gabriel Ocasio-Cortez who goes by Gabe Cortez, holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Art Therapy from Long Island University with over 300 hours clinical experience.
#3 He is a realtor and strategist
According to his LinkedIn, Gabriel Ocasio-Cortez is a licensed real estate salesperson at Grand Lux Realty. He has a history of successful negotiation, experience in real estate, architecture, construction, passion for homes, art, and design —that make him a relocation specialist.
#4 He runs his own company
According to a website, Gabe is also the directing agent and CEO at The Gabe Cortez Team. According to the page he served as Director-at-Large for the Hudson-Gateway Multiple Listing System –where he created The Manhattan MLS. Creating Hope, Ethics, Transparency, & Realtors for Manhattan.
#5 He defended his sister
Gabriel took to twitter to defend his sister when she was accused of lying about her upbringing. He explained the Westchester home his parents bought was modest and that the family struggled financially to be able to afford it. He wrote, “Terrible winter drafts, leaky roof, etc. I watched my parents skip dinner so we could eat. Don’t even try it,”
