Lisa Pevaroff-Cohn is the wife of former Goldman Sachs president turned economic advisor, Gary Cohn.

Born Gary D. Cohn, the Cleveland native didn’t always have it easy. As a child he was diagnosed with dyslexia and by the time he graduated from college he had no job or any interviews lined up. Cohn managed to graduate from high school. He also graduated from American University in 1982.
While working for the home-products division of United States Steel in Cleveland he visited NY city. His interest for financial markets led him to visit the Wall Street and the commodities exchange at Four World Trade Center. While watching he came up with a bold plan.
He waited for a few hours and when he saw the chance he approached a broker who was on his way to the airport. Cohn asked him to share the cab and during the ride he asked him for a job. Within a week he had made it to the floor of the commodities exchange.
He started his career in Goldman’s J. Aron commodities trading division, alongside Blankfein in 1990. During the early 2000s, Cohn’s various roles at Goldman included heading its fixed income currency and commodities trading division and the bank’s securities and equities business. He was named president in 2006.
